families residing in the village. The population density was 1,423.1 people per
square mile (550.0/km²). There were 334 housing units at an average density of
681.0/sq mi (263.2/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.14% White,
0.57% African American, 0.29% Asian, 0.14% from other races, and 0.86% from two
or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.43% of the population.
There were 292 households out of which 29.1% had children under the age of
18 living with them, 43.5% were married couples living together, 11.6% had a
female householder with no husband present, and 39.0% were non-families. 35.6%
of all households were made up of individuals and 22.6% had someone living
alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and
the average family size was 3.02.
In the village the population was spread out with 24.6% under the age of 18,
9.2% from 18 to 24, 26.2% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 18.3% who
were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100
females there were 94.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there
were 87.9 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $24,716, and the median
income for a family was $38,750. Males had a median income of $31,029 versus
$23,906 for females. The per capita income for the village was $17,215. About
11.6% of families and 16.5% of the population were below the poverty line,
including 26.2% of those under age 18 and 12.4% of those age 65 or over.
