Summer Recreation
Come out and join our Summer Recreation Program at the Maple Street playground and pavilion. The
program will begin Monday, July 6th and will run through August 14, Monday
through Friday from 9:30AM-2:30PM. Any child who is a resident of the Town of Augusta, who has
completed kindergarten and is under the age of 16 is welcome to attend free of
charge.
Director Jacque Roys and Assistant Alyssa Cresswell are planning a
program filled with fun, creativity and lots of surprises! Mrs. Roys worked at
Clark Memorial Library for many years as the Library Director and created a
number of successful children’s programs. Alyssa is a graduate of Madison Central School
and likes sports, the outdoors and working with children.
There will be a full calendar of activities including swimming, games,
crafts, movies, cooking and time at the Library for Summer Reading and computer
use. A field trip will be taken each week and parents are encouraged to ride
along as chaperones. A field trip will
be taken on July 15 to the Oriskany Falls Firemen’s Field to watch the
elephants set the Big Top for the Kelly Miller Circus and learn more about circus
animals from the ringmaster. All children who sign up will be given tickets to
the 4:30PM performance and supervision will be provided for any unaccompanied
child.
Lunches will only be provided by BOCES for children in Kindergarten
through eighth grade who have currently been receiving free or reduced price
lunches during the school year, no exceptions. All other children must bring a
bag lunch. Drinks will be available throughout the day.
Packets of additional information, parental forms and activity calendars
are available at the Village Hall and Library. Children may join at any time by
returning the required parental forms into the Village Hall or Director.
Everyone must signup for field trips in advance and will be given a complete
itinerary of the trip.
This is your tax dollars at work! The Village of Oriskany
Falls, Town of Augusta
and the Oneida County Youth Bureau fund the program. Encourage your children to
attend and make the most of their summer! Any questions pertaining to this
program call the Village Hall at 821-7275. Thank you.

Summer Lawn Care
Please follow the 2007 Property Maintenance Code of the New York State.
This pertains to section 302.4 Weeds. All premises and immediate exterior
property shall be maintained free from weeds or plant growth in excess of 10
inches (254 mm). All noxious weeds shall be prohibited. Weeds shall be defined
as all grass, annual plants and vegetation, other than trees or shrubs
provided; however, this term shall not include cultivated flowers and gardens.
Also, the Village of Oriskany Falls
adopted LOCAL LAW # 3 “BRUSH, GRASS AND WEEDS” of 2008 September 29, 2008.
Section 2.2 Service of Notice of Violation; Time for Compliance states;
Before the Village of Oriskany Falls shall remove, cut or
trim such brush, grass or weeds and assess the costs thereof upon the real
property upon which such brush, grass or weeds are found, notice shall be given
to the owner thereof by either personal service or by mail addressed to the
last known owner at his or her last known address as shown on the tax rolls of
the village. Such service shall be sufficient for all purposes. Such notice
shall set forth the violations and direct compliance within ten (10) days from
the date of such notice. All such notices shall be signed and issued by the
Village Code Enforcement Officer. If there is a failure of compliance within
the said ten-day period, the village may then cause the removal, trimming or
cutting and assess the cost as hereinabove provided.
Protect Your Village Parks
Vandalism at the Village Parks is a
big concern for the Village of Oriskany Falls. Last year the Village DPW had to
replace about 30 spindles on the Gazebo at Douglass Park.
So far this year the Village DPW has had to replace about 15 spindles and 6
posts on the Gazebo are missing.
Park Equipment has been broken. The
rocking horse at Douglass
Park is un-useable. There
has been misuse of the Water Fountain in Douglas Park.
Littering is also a problem. Garbage
is left on the ground all over the Parks and thrown into the Water Fountain.
Every morning the Village DPW needs to clean up the Parks from the night
before. There are 4 garbage cans at Douglass
Park and 2 garbage cans at Maple Ave
Park. Not only is there
garbage all over but there are dog feces as well. Please clean up after
yourself and your animals!
Your Village Taxes maintain Village
Parks. Your Village Parks are used for many functions, such as: Weddings,
Memorial Day Celebrations, Covidien Lunches, Library Programs, Red Hatter
functions, Music in the park and many more community functions. Most
importantly our young children play in these parks.
Park Rules- 9PM curfew for all Village Parks. No smoking and no drinking, these areas are
Drug-Free Zones. Clean up after each use of the park. Do not disturb the
neighbors.
The Village of Oriskany Falls Board of
Trustees is in the process of putting security cameras in at Douglass Park.
The camera recordings will be monitored daily. Any person caught on tape
destroying Village property will be brought up on charges.
In the meantime, if you witness
inappropriate behavior or if the Park is being used after curfew (when the
vandalism is occurring) please contact the NYS Police Department at 736-0121 or
the Oneida County Sheriffs Department at 841-8500.
There is no need to waste Tax Payers
dollars, stop the vandalism. Thank you for your help.
Garbage Exposal
VILLAGE
OF ORISKANY FALLS LOCAL LAW #2 “SANITATION LAW” OF 2000 ADOPTED: May 16, 2000 “The
purpose of this local law shall be to generate sufficient revenues to pay all

recyclables once a week from the residences and business establishments in the
Village of Oriskany Falls.”
This Local Law means that only
Village residents and Village Businesses can dispose of garbage and

Recycling is important. If you
