Halloween Halloween is Tuesday, October 31st this year! Trick or treating hours are 5 to 7pm. Turn on your lights and help celebrate the holiday by passing out treats to our youth.
Have a Happy Halloween!
C W Clark Memorial Library News by Mike Marris Halloween is coming, and that’s a busy night for parents. Come to the library for your dinner! On Halloween evening, from 4 – 7 pm, you can get tacos and chili at the library. Just make a donation of what you can pay, and get your dinner. Then you can get the kids ready to go without having to clean up the kitchen! Tacos and chili…I know I’ll be there! Watch for the Christmas Craft Show and Basket Raffle coming Saturday, November 18th, 9am-2pm. This is a great time to buy some homemade items for Christmas gifts. We have some top notch crafters and vendors here displaying their wares. And who doesn’t want to take a chance on winning a gift basket or a gift certificate to one of our local merchants? Come and have some fun with us. Check out our Book Clubs. The Mystery Book Club meets the third Saturday of the month here at the library at 10 am. This is geared for adults and is led by Kim. The Young Adult Book Club is led by Molly and is geared toward those aged 12 – 18 and meets the last Saturday of the month at 10 am. For anyone interested in reading and having a discussion about the book, stop in and see either Kim or Molly to get a copy of the current book. Food Sense Sign-up generally takes place at the library from 5-6 pm on a Tuesday evening – you’ll have to watch for the date as it changes depending on if there’s a holiday in the month, etc. You can order a package each month, and there are also different specials available each month. There is no financial requirement for the program, just a desire to help lower your monthly food bill. You must pay for the items when you order, and pick them up toward the end of the month at the United Methodist Church on a Friday morning. How can you go wrong? Shop Amazon and help the library. Go to www.wowbrary.org/cwclark and click the “Shop at Amazon” button. You’ll go to Amazon and sigh in just like always, and the library will get a small percentage of whatever you spend! We will not know what you buy, so all is well. Help us out by buying a lot! Our Trustees Board meeting is the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 at the library. Public is invited to attend, and public input is invited. Come and be heard. We’re open Mon-Wed-Fri 9:30 – 5:30; Tues-Thurs 2:00-8:00; and now open Saturdays 9:30 – 12:30. Come and see us!

Oriskany Falls Volunteer Fire Department GREAT things are happening at the Oriskany Falls Fire Department!! In July, we took delivery of a 2023 Ford F350 utility pickup truck which will become our new Rescue 1. This vehicle will replace our current EMS vehicle and will carry additional fire and rescue equipment. It will respond to most incidents that we are called to. In August, we were notified by FEMA that we had received $104,000 from the Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program for the purpose of purchasing a gear dryer and 24 complete sets of turnout gear for our members. The new gear will replace our 15+ year old gear and will ensure that our members have safe, up to date personal protective gear to work in. The “Cans and Clams” events that were held in September were a great success and we look forward to continuing them next year. We appreciate your support of these events. We have broken ground for construction of a small addition on the north side of the firehouse in Oriskany Falls. This will be used as a heated storage area for tables, chairs, gear, supplies and equipment. As always, we are in need of new members to serve in all aspects of the fire and EMS service including firefighters, EMT’s, Fire Police and non-firefighting roles. The minimum age to join is 16 years old and high school students are welcome and encouraged to apply. Training is free and the experience and friendships you gain are invaluable. There are also many fringe benefits that you may be able to take advantage of including property tax reductions, scholarships and college tuition assistance. Fire Prevention Week is in mid-October. Please look for important Fire Prevention awareness information included in our annual Fund Drive/Recruitment letter. We appreciate your continued support of our organization. |
