Spring Cleaning

Spring is here at last! Time to clean and get rid of that old junk laying around the house. The Village Trash Days are set for the week of May 3rd through 7th, 2010. All residents are asked to sort their trash by groups of acceptable material.

The village will not pickup certain items and they go as follows; barb wire, propane tanks,  farm machinery, batteries, toxic pesticides, garbage, asphalt shingles, insulation, plaster board, old wood structures, construction and demolition materials. Tires will be picked up with the purchase of a removal sticker from the Village Hall in the amount of $3.00 and they must be removed from the rim. All green waste will be picked up the second Tuesday of the month. Tree limbs must be in small removable pieces and green waste must be on the curb in a suitable bag or can.

ONLY PEOPLE RESIDING IN THE VILLAGE OF ORISKANY  FALLS MAY UTILIZE VILLAGE TRASH DAYS. ANY PERSON CAUGHT BRINGING IN OUTSIDE TRASH WILL BE TICKETED AND BE FORCED TO REMOVE THEIR TRASH.

Lawn Repair

At the end of the snow removing season the Village DPW will review the damage to lawns due to the sidewalk snow removal and fix them as soon as possible. In the future to omit this problem the homeowner should put markers along the sidewalk in front of their homes, so the Village DPW know where the edge of the sidewalk is at 3 in the morning.

Fireworks Celebration

PLEASE HELP SUPPORT THE "FIREWORKS OVER THE FALLS" CELEBRATION!

The Oriskany Falls Pride in the Community Committee is preparing for the 11th Annual Fireworks Over The Falls Celebration on Saturday, June 26, 2010. The rain date is scheduled for Sunday, June 27, 2010. With only three months remaining the Pride in the Community Committee is seeking as much help as possible.

As always food will be sold at 4PM for the same low cost. Fireworks will be at about 10PM unless rain starts then they will go off sooner. Activities that are being discussed are to have a parade and other scheduled games for the children. If you would like to sell crafts during the day, please contact Amber Bell. This event is not to make a profit, if you do sell merchandise a small donation is expected.

Putting on an event like this can get extremely expensive. The Fireworks alone will cost $6,000, the food should cost $1,800, equipment rental and a band usually cost $1,100 and finally the $2,000 Grand Prize. All expenses are paid for by donations, selling raffle tickets and food. A big turn out on the day of the event is a huge plus. Please don't forget to stop at the Firemen's Field on Saturday, June 26, 2010. You won't be disappointed.

Please consider lending a helping hand in keeping this event going! Volunteers are needed to sell raffle tickets, preparing for setup and take down, working in the food tent, manning the children's bounce tent, making and selling baked goods and finally we need a children's face painter. Call Amber Bell at 335-0129 to volunteer any services. Just volunteering for an hour can really help us out! Thank you
